If you’re on the hunt for a light neutral wall paint color that’s not too gray, not too yellow, not too beige, and not too white, then Edgecomb Gray should be at the top of your list of contenders. It’s like the goldilocks of paint colors and I’ve used it multiple times in my own home.

Edgecomb Gray has been one of my most recommended paint colors for 20+ years. It’s one of those colors that’s neutral and light enough to use as a whole-house color. It’s also a great choice for an off-white neutral cabinet or trim color. Pair it with Swiss Coffee or White Dove walls for an on-trend look.

What color is Benjamin Moore Edgecomb Gray?

Edgecomb Gray HC-173 a great medium-tone neutral paint color with subtle, warm gray tones. From Benjamin Moore’s Historical Collection, it’s a color that’s timeless and goes with any style decor. It’s included in the palette of designers’ 75 favorite paint colors.

It’s also known as Alaskan Skies 972 and Baby Fawn OC-15. (Colors from Benjamin Moore that appear in multiple collections sometimes have different names.)

Yes! It’s consistently one of the best selling colors from Benjamin Moore and is a favorite with homeowners, designers, and contractors. It’s from the Historical Collection which is comprised of colors that are designed to be used in any era. So it’s a color that you can feel safe using without it looking dated or out of style.

What undertones does Edgecomb Gray have?

Edgecomb Gray has warm gray undertones that can have a cooler appearance in north or east-facing rooms. Since colors always look different in various lighting, and because they always appear different than what you see online or in photos, it’s best to test a color before purchasing a gallon.

If you want a stark white trim color with a sharp contrast, consider using Chantilly Lace. It’s a clean, fresh white and works beautifully with Edgecomb Gray and almost any other color.

Isn’t this hallway from Kristi at Making it in the Mountains just so pretty! I love the Edgecomb Gray as a subtle backdrop to all her decor.

In this living room, Edgecomb Gray is actually the color that was used on the trim work and bookcases.  It’s a nice complement to the lavender wall color, but not a stark, sterile white.

Edgecomb Gray is a nice color for exteriors as well.  The white trim on this house makes the siding pop.  And the dark stain on the deck really stands out against the lighter colors on the house and trim.  I’d love to have a large front porch like this one!

Revere Pewter is another best seller from Benjamin Moore and is the next darker shade of Edgecomb Gray. It has a LRV of 55 and is noticeably darker.

Another popular neutral color from Benjamin Moore is Classic Gray. With an LRV of 74 it’s lighter than Edgecomb Gray. And it’s slightly cooler as well.

Balboa Mist has an LRV of 65.53 and is the tiniest bit lighter than Edgecomb Gray with its LRV of 63.09. It’s a hair cooler as well.

For a warmer version of Edgecomb Gray, take a look at Manchester Tan. It’s basically the same depth with a LRV of 63.24. Both are from the timeless Historical Collection from Benjamin Moore and are classic neutral paint colors.

Edgecomb Gray vs. Sherwin Williams Accessible Beige

Accessible Beige is one of the top 50 colors from Sherwin Williams. It’s a tiny amount warmer than Edgecomb Gray, and is also darker with an LRV of 58.

A slightly darker and cooler version of Edgecomb Gray is Sherwin Williams Agreeable Gray. It’s another top selling neutral paint color that you can’t go wrong with. It has an LRV of 60 compared to 63.09 for Edgecomb Gray.
