Colorful Eclectic Vintage Christmas Home Tour
Welcome to our Christmas holiday home tour! This year we’re on a tight budget and the only thing that’s new is our flocked pre-lit tree that I received when I collaborated with King of Christmas back in October. So it’s actually been a no-spend year for us, as far as decorating goes.
You’ll see a mix of blues, greens, and non-traditional colors, lots of vintage, and a couple of thrifted finds used in ways you might not have imagined before today.
I’m teaming up with some other vintage, thrifty gals for a tour of Christmas homes hosted by Amber at Follow the Yellow Brick Home to inspire you with ideas for your own home. If you’re coming over from, Laura at Decor to Adore, welcome! Isn’t her kitchen so charming? If you’re new here, you can learn more about me and this site here: My Story and I also invite you to join me on Instagram and Facebook where I share a few different glimpses of our home and life.
All of the home tours are found at the bottom of this post and I know you’ll want to visit all of them. Now let’s get on with our tour, starting in the entry.
Note – I have more than 12 years’ worth of Christmas decorating ideas and recipes in my archives! Here are some favorites that you might want to visit:
Colorful Christmas Decor in the Entry
Our entry is a very small landing space that’s one of my favorite spaces to decorate. There’s only one piece of furniture, a small white desk, and it’s a quick and simple place to spruce up for various seasons.
This year I added some rolls of velvet ribbon that I’ve had for a few years, and a little feather tree that I picked up years ago at a local shop.
It came with the little strand of bulbs and I added the mini Shiny Brite ornaments that belonged to my great aunt and uncle. Isn’t it fun?
I didn’t do much else in this space except add a couple of colorful blankets to a basket underneath the desk.
You can take a look at how this space has evolved over the past 13 years here: Our Small Entry – Through The Years
Living Room with Colorful Tree and Eclectic Decor
The entry is open to the living room and the colorful vintage holiday decor continues in here. My collection of vintage Christmas ornaments looks amazing on this flocked Christmas tree.
I started collecting vintage ornaments around 15 years ago and will always love to put them on our tree. I haven’t used them every year, but they always make me smile when I do.
The button garlands add a bit of texture. And the navy blue and white checked ribbon makes it all even more festive.
I recently partnered with Manhattan Home Design and they gifted me this amazing reproduction of an iconic 1960’s egg chair and ottoman. It looks perfect sitting next to the tree with my colorful pillow. I love sitting here and gazing at the tree. Peeking out from behind our new chair is my vintage 1960’s bar cart. I snagged this at an estate sale many years ago and always enjoy styling it. A couple of vintage Italian bottles and a hammered ice bucket dress up the bottom shelf.
The little tinsel tree is just the right size for the bar cart. I tucked it inside a small McCoy planter to stabilize it.
And my style is nothing if not eclectic. The Nicholas Mosse platter isn’t exactly the same look as the other items, but I love it here and that’s what matters, right? The vintage Bakelite bar tools fit perfectly on it.
Blue and Green in the Dining Room
You might recall that this China cabinet used to be in the living room. A few weeks ago I got a wild hair and decided to rearrange the furniture in my dining area and living room. I also put my slipcovers back on to our dining chairs for a lighter look. This was a much bigger project than I anticipated because I had to unload all my dishes from this piece and our antique oak hutch, which was in this space but now resides in the kitchen. It was a good opportunity to thin my hoard and I really like the new look in here!
We recently partnered with Lowe’s for a new chandelier which really updated the space. It looks like a brand new room now and I love how the room sparkles with the Christmas table settings. I used a mix of blue and green mostly vintage finds in here.
Who doesn’t love Blue Willow dishes? I’ve found most of my pieces at thrift stores over the past few years and decided to pair them with some vintage Jadeite pieces that my sister gifted me a couple of years ago for a blue and green table.
I’ve always loved colorful bottle brush trees and my thrifted serger thread cones give me the same look. I used them on our mantel a few years ago for a rainbow look (see that here: Colorful Christmas Decor Ideas). I added some clippings from our holly and boxwood trees and some ribbon and mini ornaments for filler.
Another thrifty estate sale find is the 4′ Alpine tree over in the corner. It fits perfectly in that space.

I used my vintage McCoy planter as a container and elevated it on top of a bamboo table. Little Lucy is enjoying the heat coming from the vent as it was very cold when I shot these pictures.
The blue and white paper ornaments are some that I made a couple of years ago with my cricut machine and you can get the tutorial here: 3D Paper Ornaments. The flocked green ones came from the Martha Stewart KMart collection probably 15 years ago and I’ve always loved them.
Our long console table was in the kitchen and I moved it here when I was rearranging furniture. Did I tell you what I mess I made when I did this? I’m still trying to put things away, lol. Anyway, my mom gifted me the big blue willow platter a few months ago and that was sort of the catalyst for all of the decor in this area. The reindeer tiered tray is from my shop and I added some little white ironstone creamers and small decor in there.
The old basket on the bottom was a thrift store find in Chattanooga when I was helping our youngest set up her apartment a few months ago. Don’t you love the memories attached to all of your favorite finds? I do.

The old chinoiserie lamp that is one I found at a yard sale many years ago. I recently updated it with a seagrass lampshade. Such a nice little upgrade and it’s just the right size for this spot.
Over in the China hutch, I’ve added more blue willow and jadeite with a few little preserved boxwood items.
I didn’t really do a lot of Christmas additions in the China hutch but it looks nice with the table. The nested Jadeite bowls are a nod to Christmas past and kind of remind me of a Christmas tree. Maybe I need to add some ornaments in the top bowl like I did a couple of years ago.
That wraps it up for our Christmas home tour. I didn’t do near as much this year as I have in years past and I’m pretty sure I’ll be happy about that in January when it all comes down. We’re pursuing more of a quiet, slow life now that both girls are living in different cities. It’s a little sad, but we sure do love and value all of the time we get to spend with them now.
Merry Christmas to you, and now head over to see Cindy at County Road 407. She has a “less is more” theme happening and I can totally appreciate that! All of the tours are below and I’m sure you’ll want to see them all.
Angie, your colorful holiday home is just beautiful! I love the mix of blues and greens, with the
bright pops of color! You incorporated your vintage finds into your holiday decor so beautifully. I love the blue and white paper ornaments you made with your Cricut. I am definitely going to
make a set! It is wonderful to tour with you. Wishing you a beautiful Christmas season!
I have just gained so much inspiration from your blog!!! I think I pinned practically every photo! From the beautiful trees with all the color to the table centerpiece, your home is amazing! I love the little details throughout and the new fun ideas. Like the blue blanket tucked inside the slipcover, the spools of thread, and the beads on the cabinet. And for everyone who loves blue and white china pieces, you’ve just given them thrills and smiles as they decorate their Christmas homes. I’m going to come back soon and go through all the Christmas archives too! So glad I got to see your lovely home. Merriest of Christmases!
Oh how adorable everything is! I love the festive, bright colors and all of your creative displays. The art mannequin with the hat next to the little tree with vintage tiny ornaments is just so cute and creative! The little button garland is adorable too, and I love that bright hooked pillow on your new chair.
Green is my favorite color and with all the blue mixed with it, the dining room just looks so pretty and wintry!
Like you, I didn’t buy a lot this year and just enjoy using things I already have in new ways, and it makes it so much easier when Christmas is over!
Thanks so much for joining this tour and have a very Merry Christmas!
I love this blue and green look for Christmas, Angie, and your cabinet looks so good in there! My favorite is the centerpiece, though. Over the top creative-thread cones, and some of them on teacups? Love it! I’ve been picking up big vintage thread spools and was thinking of putting bottle brush trees in them, but I love the ornament in them also; thanks for the brilliant idea! Merry Christmas! And let me know when you’ll be this way;)
It all looks so pretty and I love the green and blue combination. Have a very Merry Christmas.
Angie, I love all the wonderful color you’ve included in your Christmas decor. That big tree is gorgeous and so beautifully decorated. And so many adorable small trees scattered about. The blue and green color scheme is unexpected and so cheerful for the holidays. Have a wonderful Christmas season!!
Angie your feather and tinsel trees have captured my heart. As a seamstress, I am totally
STEALING your Serger thread trees. But I do plan on featuring you on my Friday Favorites post.
Angie, I love the changes in your dining room and your blue willow platter is gorgeous! I wish you and your family the merriest Christmas!
