Do you want to know a quick and easy way to get a decorator look for each season? I’m sharing secrets today so you better pay attention. And I’m admitting to an addiction. This is going to be good!

If you’ve read many of my posts then you know that I love pillows and throws. I find myself uncontrollably drawn towards them whenever I visit my favorite home decorating stores or websites. My husband and kids have asked me not to bring any more home because they’re taking over our closets and storage space. They say I’m….addicted. And they’re right.

Why am I addicted? Because changing your throws and pillows is such a quick and easy way to make a noticeable difference to your decor. It’s much cheaper than new furniture, rugs, or curtains. And much easier than repainting. They’re a decorator’s go-to for a simple way to update a space. See how different throws and pillows are used on the wing back chair in the next pictures for a totally different look.

Even though the chair is in a different spot in ACH photo, they’re all in the same room. (I have a habit of rearranging furniture, too.) Isn’t that a simple way to get a new look? And at the end of the season it’s so easy to change them and get an entirely new look for your space.

Storing and protecting throws and pillows in their off season is very important because you don’t want them to get musty or dirty or have bugs on them. A ruined pillow or throw isn’t just a disappointment. It’s usually a loss of a monetary investment you’ve made in something you really like. Now I’ll show you how the best way to store and protect them by using Ziploc® Space Bags® from Lowe’s.

At the end of the season round up the pillows and throws that need to be stored away until next year.

Next, place them inside the appropriate size Ziploc® Space Bag®. For our throws I used the large size and for the pillows I used the extra large size, 2 of them. You don’t want to overfill or use the wrong size or the bag might not work properly. Each bag has a fill line, which helps you know where to stop filling each bag.

The pillows are easy enough to fit inside the bag. For the throws, I found that folding them into a rectangle the size of the bag helped them fit better. Rolling them up before you place them in the bag and then unrolling them to lay flat inside the bag helps as well. Everything is nice and neat.

After that, all you do is seal the bag, insert your vacuum hose in the opening and remove the air until the bag is compressed.

Smooth out the bag as you go so your items won’t get wrinkled inside. That’s all there is to it!

Our fall throws and pillows are all sealed up tight and will be fresh and ready to use again next year. The airtight Ziploc® Space Bags® seals out bugs, moths, dirt, mildew, and odors. A great way to protect your investment! And it frees up closet and storage space!

To get Ziploc® Space Bags® to protect and store your seasonal pillows, throws, and bedding, head to your local Lowe’s. For my trip to Lowe’s I checked stock online and it showed me exactly where to go in the store to find them. Aisle 32, Bin 11.

It might be located in a different area in your store. Ask your friendly Lowe’s sales person to direct you there if you need assistance.

So now you know about my secrets and addictions. I’m also addicted to other decor items, but that’s another story for another day.

What items can or do you use the Ziploc® Space Bags® for?

Thanks so much for dropping by my little space on the world wide web!
